School History

Valor Global Online was established in 2018 by the collaborative efforts of Angie Taylor, Doug Wood, and Thea Wood.

The Beginning

In 2017, the Wood family embarked on a journey to Israel, and upon their return, their absence was met with concern from their Scottsdale private Christian school, specifically regarding the missed homework assignments. The school displayed limited interest in acknowledging the profound educational experience the girls had encountered in the revered land where Jesus once walked.

Meanwhile, Angie was in her second year as the co-founder of Valor Christian School International School in Oregon, and the inaugural year of Valor International Scholars boarding school in South Korea.

A Vision Unfolds

Inspired by the educational vision of Valor which was unfolding through social media channels, the Woods desired to offer their daughters and other children a similar enriching learning environment. They initiated contact with Angie, initiating exploratory discussions on the potential partnership required to bring the Valor vision to the online sphere.

Demonstrating their commitment, the Woods invested substantial resources, as well as their time and expertise in community building, to ensure that Valor families were well-supported and connected. Angie, drawing upon her 30 years of experience as an educator, contributed her visionary perspective and educational expertise to this dynamic partnership, which laid the foundation for the remarkable Valor Global Online community.

Growth and Challenges

The online program began as a pilot in 2018, Valor Online began with just seven students. However, by January 2020, the school had not attained the desired level of enrollment, prompting the team to prayerfully consider suspending operations for the remainder of the year.

Yet, in their prayer time, the team believes God asked them to continue on with what He has called them to. In fact, Doug, Thea, and Angie believed it was an opportune moment to redouble their efforts, culminating in the organization's first in-person retreat in February 2020.

In March 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic caused an unexpected surge in student enrollment, with an increase of 70 students within a single month. It became evident that Valor had been providentially prepared for such a pivotal moment. Consequently, the school initiated biannual in-person events and has since experienced significant year-on-year growth.

A Global Impact

For every student enrolled in Valor online, we support a student globally through Valor Global Foundation. Valor has students in forty states and six countries.

Conclusion

Valor Online owes its success to the favor of God and an exceptional team of dedicated staff members who have wholeheartedly contributed to the development of this visionary educational platform. The remarkable achievements and growth we have witnessed are credited to the benevolence of our Heavenly Father and the unwavering commitment and hard work of our diligent staff, who have selflessly dedicated themselves to serving our esteemed community.
