Cyberbullying Policy
Definition
Cyberbullying refers to electronic harassment, intimidation, or abusive behavior. This policy covers all online interactions within the VGO community.
Unacceptable Behavior
Examples include offensive messages, spreading rumors, impersonation, exclusion, or encouraging others to engage in cyberbullying.
Reporting
All interactions are monitored through Bark. Incidents outside VGO-approved platforms should be reported to a teacher, advocate, or staff member.
Restoration and Discipline
Measures may include mediation, educational programs, suspension of privileges, or legal action in severe cases.
Academic Integrity
Purpose
VGO values honesty and originality, expecting students to submit their own work and properly credit original authors.
Plagiarism and Copying
Strictly prohibited, students must submit original work and not allow their work to be copied.
Responsibilities
- Students: Must not copy or allow copying, and must properly cite sources.
- Teachers: Provide guidelines, educate about academic integrity, and monitor for plagiarism.
Disciplinary Actions
- Student Who Allowed Copying: Ranges from verbal warning to expulsion.
- Student Who Copied: Ranges from zero grade to expulsion.
Plagiarism Policy
Definition
Plagiarism involves presenting someone else's work as one's own without proper credit.
Consequences
Includes educational programs, redoing assignments, reduced grades, parent notification, or expulsion in severe cases.
Citing Sources
Students must provide accurate citations for all external sources, including Chat GPT. Failure to do so is considered plagiarism.
Appeals Process
Students may appeal disciplinary actions, and the policy will be periodically reviewed and revised as needed.
